Hot Men For Cold Nights

Snowy HelsinkiHappy new year, everyone! I hope 2013 has started out well for you and that you had a great holiday season. I spent Christmas this year, as is the case many years, in Helsinki, Finland. If you’ve never been there I can tell you that it’s worth your time to make a trip. Helsinki’s a beautiful city and it’s a place a bit off the beaten path if you find yourself yearning for something a little different. Because it’s so far north there’s not much daylight during the winter (none at all in more northern Finland), but it makes Christmas quite pretty with candles everywhere in homes, restaurants, and bars. Grab a cup of glog (glögi as they say in Finnish) and you’re set for a festive time indeed. But, admittedly, Finland is also snowy and extremely cold. Jack Frost doesn’t just nip at your nose there, he takes a damn bite out of it. So what’s a gal to do to keep warm during those long winter nights? Why, look at pictures of hot Scandinavian men, of course.

Markus PöyhönenThis guy here is Markus Pöyhönen. He’s a Finnish runner who specialized in the 100 meter sprint. He has the kind of classical looks that many people associate with Scandinavians. Blond hair, sculpted cheekbones, not much in the way of body hair. I like that about Scandinavian guys because I’m personally not a fan of hirsute chests or legs. Long hair on the head – yes. Long hair anywhere else – no.

Sami Lepistö

Many hot Scandinavian men athletes. Sami Lepistö, pictured here with the baseball cap (and, sadly, with his shirt on), is a hockey player. So is Sweden’s Henrik Lundqvist (below), who’s the goalie for the New York Rangers.

I was at a party once where Henrik Lundqvist happened to be and I had the chance to talk to him for a couple of minutes. Yowza. He looked as good at the party as he does in this picture. Talk about someone for whom life dealt a nice set of cards.

Speaking of Lundqvist, what’s the deal with all the hot guys in Sweden? In addition to athletes, they’ve got royalty. Here’s Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, third in line to the crown. There are rumors that he’s gay, but to my knowledge they haven’t been confirmed.

Sweden also has some seriously good looking models.  Marcus Schenkenberg, anyone?

I hope this post has helped you thaw during the cold winter days ahead. Stay warm, everyone!

Elizabeth
